Are you among those who find it hard to get out of bed in the morning and would love to be able to stay just a bit longer snuggled up in your warm bed? If you are an early riser, surely you have missed some time to do everything you set out to do? You will be glad to know, as an interesting fact that every day we manage to steal some time. Due to the gravitational effects of the Moon, the time on Earth is gradually slowing down. Though very slowly, about two milliseconds every hundred years, in some 200 million years, one day will last for about 25 hours!

But have you ever wondered how do we account time and why clocks show that particular time? These answers have been sought by many scientists and researchers, and to start with we need to know how time has its origin from the Big Bang and the creation of the universe about 13.7 billion years ago. The famous physicist Albert Einstein established that space and time are connected and it is impossible to have time without movement.

They can soar into the sky and to the moon, hide between the clouds, travel great distances, for they only need very little power, with them you can send and receive sounds and voices, they travel at the same speed as light, they are the fastest way to transfer information from one place to another… They are radio waves. They enable the wireless reception and transmission of communication signals via one special medium – radio, without which life today would be difficult to imagine.

In its beginnings it was also called the wireless telegraph, with which messages were transmitted remotely. Its main task was emission, and once this term was used in agriculture, like effusion. In the 1860s James Clark Maxwell precisely predicted how mankind could expect a great milestone with the possibility of the transmission of radio waves, which for the first time ever was successfully accomplished over the Atlantic Ocean by Guglielmo Marconi, for which he received the Nobel Prize. His range in 1903 enabled American President Theodore Roosevelt to send a radio message to King Edward VII, and the legendary Marconi is also remembered as the great-grandson of John Jameson, the producer of the famous Irish whiskey – Jameson!

Are you aware that today, plants and animal species are becoming extinct one thousand times faster due to the influence of people? Did you know that temperature will rise by almost 5 degrees by the end of the century? Did you know that over the last 50 years the ice on Antarctica has been melting at a rate 10 times more intense than 6oo years ago and that the increased sea level will lead to weather instabilities while global warming will bring more droughts to certain areas?

According to some estimates, problems will occur with barley – the key ingredient of beer, having a negative impact on production, pricing but equally to the taste of beer. The lack of basic natural resources and conditions as well as the loss of bio-diversity shall pose negative influences on obtaining cacao beans and so without the fruits of the sweetest plant on the planet, the favourite treat for many of us will simply cease to exist – chocolate.

Water attraction in Zagreb: Magical fountains as an entrance to the city

0 komentara

In those warm summer nights, from 30th June to 1st July, right at the entrance of Zagreb, a distinctive piece of Zagreb architecture was lit with a special glow.  The most famous fountains of the Croatian metropolis, on Ulica Hrvatske Bratske Zajednice opposite the National and University Library, danced their theatrical piece, in various colours, skilfully following corresponding rhythms.  With a ceremonial appearance, in a play of light and light musical notes, the most beautiful greetings card possible upon Croatia’s entry into the European Union was created.

Many recall with joy that proud moment of accession into the European family, whilst Zagreb’s multimedia water attraction also gave its own contribution to the magnificent impression. With a combination of technology, the drops of water from the 28th commemorative jet on the southern fountain symbolised Croatia as the 28th member of the European Union, and projections of the European Union flag and the Croatian coat of arms and of its capital city surprised distinguished guests and the people of Zagreb.  Everyone enjoyed the unique and historical moment which will be long remembered.
