The Museum of Broken Relationships is one of the newest and most unique of Zagreb’s many museums. Opened in October 2010, the museum is dedicated to showcasing the remnants of failed romantic relationships and features a collection of personal objects that encapsulate experiences associated with break-ups. The items on display are accompanied by stories behind them, which range from funny and hopeful to sad, moving and even bitter, allowing a brief peek into a variety of personal experiences and different ways in which people tell their stories.

Antiques fair on British Square – lots of fun and delightful scents of the past

Known as the most Zagreb of all squares, it was built on the meadows between the Sava and Medvednica, with the Kraljevac stream once cheerfully flowing across the centre. Between two wars it had a Catholic, Jewish and Orthodox cemetery, a chapel, a pharmacy, factories, not to mention a cinema, butcher shops, workshops and shops, tailor and shoe repair shop, a doctor’s office and a post office.

The square became the home of the first public toilet built in 1908, and was once the location of a market where women from villages and the Zagreb surroundings would supply the Zagreb citizens with homemade cheese, sour cream, vegetables, mushrooms, fruit and other household produce. Still today they can be found here, and you can also meet pensioners, who passionately comment on current events, play cards, chess and board games, whilst children and grandchildren merrily run around them. People sip coffee on the easy-going café terraces, listening to violin-playing musicians, impatiently waiting for the afternoon sun that shines towards the west side of the square, with Sundays becoming particularly lively and delightful.

They were bound by the secret of the “black night”, which kindled a passionate and everlasting love. Their touching love story that ended in a marriage moved from the TV screens to the real world and earned them the title of the most famous Turkish acting couple. The many travels around the world of the loving married couple even led them to Zagreb in 2010!

The 7th of June 1993 had undoubtedly become the saddest day in the history of Croatian sport. The fatal highway close to Ingolstadt in Germany took the life of one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

Very few are unaware as to who we are talking about. Dražen Petrović, a person whose talent, unseen love of basketball which he lived for, commitment to training, hard work and passion together with the many achievements, medals, miraculous points and games and unfortunate tragic accident at the peak of his career at the age of 28, is now written in books and biographies… yet, it all could have been a different story…
